i saved for three years to purchase my dream sofa. it was the Stickley Fargo in a custom fabric and i was thrilled. The trouble started on the day it was delivered from a local, high-end dealer in the Chicagoland area.

there was goose in the pillows; I'm allergic, told the salesperson i was allergic but no one advised me of the goose. (this salesperson was not honest; she said with my purchase i would get a interior design help worth $250, but when i tried to get her to do it she reneged and said i had to pay)

one pillow was so poorly made the zipper had an inch gap and it could not fully zip closed.

the sofa was beautiful; the cushions not so much. when they unwrapped it the cushions were obviously not the same; one was nice, plump and looked like the store floor models and the website. the other cushion was flat (this is a brand new custom sofa).

after pictures, emails, ets., the store ordered more inserts. 6 weeks later (yep, 6 more weeks) the inserts arrived and did not fit - they were too long and were worse than the original. when you sat on one cushion the other popped up and you sank so low you felt the springs.

this time i had to schedule an inspection (even though this same person had delivered the inserts and said that is the number one problem they experience - *** inserts and from ALL companies).

he comes again and this time they take the whole sofa to have the local store's upholster make new inserts.

2 weeks later it arrives....first the new inserts were a piece of hard foam with a little batting and no covers. can you imagine paying over 3000 grand on a sofa and they can't cover the cores/inserts? and on a sofa that the fabric will crawl.

Then i sat on them; horrid! so hard and uncomfortable and they didn't fit any better.

So i called an upholster and paid him for his opinion. He stated it would never be right as the cushions were not made correctly to fit the sofa bed and you can't get the inserts or cores to ever work that way. new covers, etc., needed to be made

the store at this point just offers a refund, but i want my sofa. i spend over a month back and forth with the local Stickley rep and he finally comes and looks at the sofa. he indicates to me that he sees problems with this brand new sofa.

he said he would get me an answer in a week; 2 1/2 weeks later after i pestered i was told the only thing stickly would do is give me new cores or inserts (like any of the three prior inserts worked?) and 20% discount. I didn't want a discount, i wanted a comfortable, new Stickly Fargo sofa.

Also, the fabric was starting to pill, rolled horridly over the cushions and I'm not sure how long it would hold up. After it was returned from the store for the third set of cores, there were other issues that were not present before as well.

So, i ended up returning it to the store, who to their credit, gave me a full refund.

I no longer trust American made regardless of reputation. I can't tell you how much time this while thing cost me and no one disagreed with me; they all agreed the inserts were ***, but Stickly obviously did not care much about this one middle aged women's opinion; nice to know they now seem to have the same quality control as Craftmaster and Clayton Marcus - buyer beware

Monetary Loss: $3200.

I am also having problems with my $3200+ Stickley sofa. The cushions are made of down and springs, and I was assured several times by the sales person that these cushions would never sink down, that they would be supportive since they have springs in them.

Well, within a week of having the sofa, the cushions no longer had a nice crown, even if I fluffed them up. And the fabric appeared loose on the cushions. In short time, the cushions flattened out so much that you sunk down into them, and when sitting on a cushion, it looks like the cushion flattens out to about four inches in height. You simply cannot maintain a normal posture, and that is very bad for the back.

The sales person who sold me the sofa no longer worked there when I phoned to complain. I then tried different cores, and they all flattened out and you would sink in and the fabric would appear loose. This sofa looks like it's twenty years old with the loose fabric over the seat cushions and flattened out-of-shape seat cushions. I am so angry that I spent over $3200 for a very uncomfortable sofa.

I called an upholsterer, and he stated that that sales person at Stickley was wrong, that down and springs do not provide a supportive seat cushion, that it's more for people who like the feeling of sinking into a cushion. I was very clear with the sales person about my need for a supportive cushion before I make the purchase.

They never offered to refund my money, and one worker made a joke out of this situation. I will never buy another Stickley sofa.

I recently bought a Stickley Sofa ( $4500 but 2700 after 42% discount). Fortunately, my 500 series sofa doesn't have springs in the cushions.

The springs do give the sinking feeling. The 500 series is built for shorter people. Comfortable. Easy to get up.

No sinking feeling. All the other Stickley series come with springs standard.

I bought a 4000. Stickley chest of drawers and months later noticed that the wood structure inside had split completely and been glued back together with the two pieces not fitting, red glue splattered everywhere.

They first offered to pick up the chest and "repair" it.

Not yet resolved. Like this person, I love the chest and want the chest, just didn't want to unknowingly buy a defective one.

I purcharsed a bed at store in Paramus about 4-5 months ago. I will say that at this point I am yet to have it in my home !!! The sales women assured us this would fit with no problem and that the bed came delivered in pieces . Which is a total Lie it came with a large frame and never made it passed the front door . Then she said for about $ 200 they could take it apart more and reassemble it in our home , Lie # 2 , this was now a $1200 isuue which i now am livid over after the bed being $5,000 before this. So after all this just delivery charge was waved and the company hired to take bed apart and rebuild it came yesterday to asselble it in our home! 5 !!! MONTHS LATER ! Well the bed still does not fit The sales women was told day one about 6 times I have a normal 8 ft ceiling she assured me the bed will fiit that height < obviously she could care less about what I was saying and she just wanted to make a sale so bad she would just continue to lie. If she needed money that bad I rather her just aske me for money than to lie to me. My Fiance and I are beyond words at this point !!!! This company has showwn us its not the customer that is important its their wallet. It is very sad becasue the products are very nice in your store and we renovated an entire 4,000 sq ft house and are buying all new furniture for it. This bed WILL be the last purchase from your store

I am having quality issues with stickley right now. Too many to list. Person above was right when she said just because it has stickley on it does not mean it is quality.

I agree! I have Stickley furniture and I'm not impressed. The solid cherry furniture gets stratched or marked so easily.
